I had a great time at Leanin' Tree in Boulder, Colorado with my Cowboy Cartoonists International friends in August 2017. We had a business meeting to decide on our next year's meeting place, Witchita Falls, Texas on April 18 and 19, 2018 at the Cowboy True Art Exhibit and Auction. It should be fun. We also voted in 2 new members to our Cowboy Cartoonists Internation group, Pepe Villasenor and Wheeler "Slim" Hughes.
I'll be participating in a special art show at the Saint Gregory University's Mabee-Gerrer Museum of Art from November 5th to 20th, 2016. The theme is "Artists For Learning". Featuring artwork with a learning theme. Opening reception will be Friday 4 November at 7:00 P.M.
Just returned from the 2016 CCI (Cowboy Cartoonists International) Rendezvous at the Western Pleasure Guest Ranch just outside Sandpoint, Idaho. Beautiful country goin' to it and comin' home from it. It was a rewarding get-together for all of the Leanin' Tree Greeting Card cartoonists. Can't wait 'til next year's rendezvous.
In March of 2013 Graphic Classics Publishing released a new book written and illustrated by Native Americans titled "Native American Classics". I had the privilage of illustrating one of the stories.
July 23 to July25, 2015, Leanin' Tree greeting cards company hosted a fun business gathering of Cowboy Cartoonists International in Boulder, Colorado. It was great to see the old members and meet the new ones. There's nothin' funner than a bunch of cowboy cartoonists gettin' together for fun and business. Humor is our business.
Saturday, 9 April 2016 I'll be demonstrating and selling my cartoon books and prints at the Mabee-Gerrer Museum of Art during their annual Arts Trek event on the at St. Gregory's University in Shawnee, Oklahoma. It is free and open to the public. There will be artists, musicians, dancers, poets, and actors from all genres. Free fun for the whole family.
The Mabee-Gerrer Museum of Art will be having a special art exhibit featuring Oklahoma artists, myself included, in an effort to help the hungry using art work with the theme "Doing What We Can to Help". It will be running from 7 November to 22 November 2015 at the museum on the Saint Gregory University's campus in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Please visit and show your support.
I was initiated into the western life at an early age on my grandfather's primitive Oklahoma farm. No electricity, no in-door plumbin',an outhouse, farming with horses, wood stove heating and cooking, and a one-room schoolhouse. You Know? The Good Ol' Days! I am proud of my Choctaw heritage from my great great grandmother who refused to register with the U.S. government because she said, "They took the babies."
